The Katsina State Hisbah Board has seized 142 cartons of alcohol that were brought into the state with the intention of being transported to Daura Local Government Area.

During a patrol aimed at cleaning up the city of immoral and indecent behaviours, the Hisbah Commander, Dr. Aminu Usman (Abu Ammar), led the operation that intercepted a vehicle loaded with 142 cartons of alcohol on Ringroad. This action was supervised by Mallam Nafi’u Ma’azu Akilu, who ensured the contraband was taken to the Hisbah headquarters for further investigation.

In a related development, the Hisbah Board has arraigned two women in court for repeated offences of indecent behaviour. The women, Fatima Umar (Yargata) and Raliya Isah (’Yar Ruma), both aged 24, were brought before the court for the fourth time on charges of indecent conduct and immoral behaviour.

Despite previous warnings and counselling from the Hisbah Board, the women failed to amend their ways, leading to their arraignment at the Sharia Court No.1 in Kofar Soro, where they pleaded guilty. The presiding judge, Alkali Kasimu Liman, ordered their remand in a correctional facility until Thursday, 27th June, for further proceedings.

The Hisbah Board continues to urge parents, religious leaders, and community heads to monitor the behaviour of young people and assist the board in maintaining law and order in Katsina State. This appeal aims to uphold the cultural and moral values of the Katsina community in accordance with the state laws establishing the Hisbah Board.
